Intercessions are short prayers in which the church asks for strength, health, and God’s blessing from others, such as those in need or suffering. The intercessions in the church wedding ceremony are, of course, primarily addressed to the newlywed couple, but often include family, deceased relatives and needy people. Most intercessions at the wedding are prepared by different wedding guests and alternately spoken – a personal and emotional moment during the wedding, which you will surely remember.

Formulate intercessions for the wedding

The intercessions at the wedding can be freely formulated by the newlyweds or by the wedding guests. Since the intercession is a “speaking to God” is usually chosen as an introduction to a salutation such as “Merciful God, …” or simply “Lord, …”. Whether poetic, emotional or very simple – the only important thing is that the intercession comes from the heart.

A little tip: If several speakers are planned, they should agree in advance, which topics they want to choose and which order is offered.
